Live updates: Bhupendra Patel named next CM of Gujarat
A day after Vijay Rupani stepped down as the chief minister of Gujarat, BJP MLA from Ghatlodiya assembly seat Bhupendra Patel has been named as next CM of the state. Earlier today Bharatiya Janata Party's legislative party held a meeting at the party's headquarters in Gandhinagar to finalise the name of the new CM.

Bhupendra Patel's MLA biography mentions that he is 59 years old. He has diploma in civil engineering and is a resident of Shilaj area in Ahmedabad. Patel is trustee in Patidar organizations Sardar Dham and Vishwa Umiya Foundation. He was standing committee chairman, president of Memnagagar Nagarpalika in 1999-2000, vice chairman of School Board of AMC in 2008-10, councilor from Thaltej ward in 2010-15, and chairman of AUDA in 2015-17.
Bhupendra Patel, the newly-appointed CM of Gujarat, is likely to meet the state governor at 6 pm today and stake claim to form government.
Bhupendra Patel has been named the next chief minister of Gujarat. He is a BJP MLA from Ghatlodiya assembly seat and also an ex-chairman of the standing committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
